General information

  • Infusions of recombinant human interleukins 1 alpha and 1 beta cause hypercalcemia in normal mice. [1]
  • IL-1 type cytokine, stimulates the synthesis of some of the positive acute phase proteins (APPs), such as C-reactive protein, serum amyloid A and haemopexin, and inhibits negative APPs such as albumin. [2]
  • Both the pro and mature forms of IL-1 alpha are active. [3]
  • Interleukin 1 is processed and released during apoptosis. [3]
  • The interleukin-1 receptor binds the human interleukin-1 alpha precursor but not the interleukin-1 beta precursor. [4]
