General information

  • The major human rhinovirus receptor is ICAM-1. [1]
  • Interferon-gamma-induced epithelial ICAM-1 expression and monocyte adhesion. [2]
  • ICAM-1 is an integral membrane protein, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, and a ligand for LFA-1, a beta 2 leukocyte integrin. [3]
  • CAM-1 is constitutively present on endothelial cells, but its expression is increased by proinflammatory cytokines [4]
  • Intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1, but not ICAM-2, activates RhoA and stimulates c-fos and rhoA transcription in endothelial cells. [5]
