Details for messenger / hormone: CD40-L

EndoNet ID: ENH00357

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • Interaction of CD40L and its cognate receptor is an essential component of B-lymphocyte signaling, affecting various aspects of B-cell differentiation pathways and immunoglobulin gene expression. [1]
  • CD40 ligand gene defects are responsible for X-linked hyper-IgM syndrome. [2]
  • TNF-alpha blockade down-regulates the CD40/CD40L pathway in the mucosal microcirculation. [3]
  • CD40L generates immune responses in leukemia-bearing mice, an effect that is potentiated by IL-2. [4]
  • CD40L induces the production by proximal tubular epithelial cells of different proinflammatory cytokines. [5]
  • CD40 ligand is expressed on platelets and released from them on activation. [6]
  • Elevation of soluble CD40 ligand levels indicates an increased risk of cardiovascular events. [6]
