Details for messenger / hormone: MIP-3 alpha

EndoNet ID: ENH00394

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • small-inducible cytokine A20
  • C-C motif chemokine 20
  • MIP-3 alpha
  • MIP-3-alpha
  • macrophage inflammatory protein 3 alpha
  • liver and activation-regulated chemokine
  • CC chemokine LARC
  • beta chemokine exodus-1

General information

  • Chemotactic factor that attracts lymphocytes and, slightly, neutrophils, but not monocytes. Inhibits proliferation of myeloid progenitors in colony formation assays. [1]
  • C-terminal processed forms have been shown to be equally chemotactically active for leukocytes. Possesses antibacterial activity E.coli ATCC 25922 and S.aureus ATCC. [1]
  • Expressed predominantly in the liver, lymph nodes, appendix, peripheral blood lymphocytes, and fetal lung. Low levels seen in thymus, prostate, testis, small intestine and colon. [1]
  • Induction: By lipopolysaccharide (LPS), tumor necrosis factor and interferon gamma. Induced by phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) in U937 cell line and bowes melanoma. Repressed by IL-10. [1]
