General information

Fibromodulin is an extracellular matrix protein normally produced by collagen-rich tissues; the fibromodulin gene has been found to be the most overexpressed gene in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. [1]
Fibromodulin activates the classical pathway of complement by directly binding C1q. [2]
Fibromodulin is expressed in leiomyoma and myometrium and regulated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue therapy and TGF-beta through Smad and MAPK-mediated signalling. [3]
Lumican and fibromodulin regulate the assembly of collagens into higher order fibrils in connective tissues. [4]
