General information

  • Galectin-1 tends to display pro-apoptotic effects. [1]
  • Existing as dimers.
  • Galectin-1 kills immature thymocytes and activated peripheral T cells by binding to glycans on T cell glycoproteins including CD7, CD45, and CD43. [2]
  • Galectin-1 enhances the migratory capabilities of tumor astrocytes and, therefore, their biological aggressiveness. [3]
  • Galectin-1 has pro-apoptotic effect against T cells by binding to various cell surface receptors including CD7 and CD45. [1]
