Details for messenger / hormone: WISP1

EndoNet ID: ENH00573

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • WISP-1 acts as a tumor suppressor and plays an important role in breast cancer. [1]
  • WISP genes are members of the connective tissue growth factor family that are up-regulated in wnt-1-transformed cells and aberrantly expressed in human colon tumors. [2]
  • WISP-1 is a cysteine-rich, secreted factor belonging to the CCN family. [3]
  • WISP-1 is an osteoblastic regulator expressed during skeletal development and fracture repair. [4]
  • WISP-1 stimulates cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, fibroblast proliferation, and ECM expression in vitro. [5]
  • WISP-1 is a Wnt-1- and beta-catenin-responsive oncogene. [6]
  • WISP-1 is a member of the CCN family of growth factors. [6]
  • Overexpression of WISP-1 down-regulates motility and invasion of lung cancer cells through inhibition of Rac activation. [3]
  • WISP-1 attenuates p53-mediated apoptosis in response to DNA damage through activation of the Akt kinase. [7]
  • WISP-1 binds to decorin and biglycan. [8]
  • WISP1v is involved in the aggressive progression of scirrhous gastric carcinoma. [9]
  • WISP-1 plays a critical role in post-myocardial infarction remodeling. [5]
