  • NmU stimulates contractions of the ileum and urinary bladder. [1]
  • Expressed in enteric nervous system, highest levels being found in the jejunum. [1]
  • Neuromedin U is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that regulates body weight and composition. [2]
  • NMU plays an important role in the regulation of feeding behavior and energy metabolism independent of the leptin signaling pathway. [2]
  • NMU stimulates intracellular Ca2+ mobilization and inositol phosphate formation.
  • The neuropeptide neuromedin U promotes inflammation by direct activation of mast cells. [3]
