Details for messenger / hormone: FGF-10

EndoNet ID: ENH00651

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • Fgf-10 is required for both limb and lung development and exhibits striking functional similarity to Drosophila branchless. [1]
  • KGF-2 inhibits intestinal inflammation by stimulating epithelial restitution and protective PGs. [2]
  • Fibroblast growth factor-10 is a mitogen for urothelial cells. [3]
  • LADD syndrome is caused by FGF10 mutations. [4]
  • KGF and FGF-10 stimulate liquid secretion in human fetal lung. [5]
  • FGF-10 is a secreted growth factor that binds to FGF receptor-2 IIIb, which is expressed in prostatic epithelial cells and thus can potentially act as a growth factor for these cells. [6]
  • Involved in wound healing, and in limb and lung development.
  • FGF-10 is required for saccular lung development and reduced in the lung tissue of infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia. [7]
  • FGF-10 is a mitogen which is particularly promising as a protein therapy for urothelial injury. [8]
  • FGF-10 and its receptor exhibit bidirectional paracrine targeting to urothelial and smooth muscle cells in the lower urinary tract. [9]
