Details for messenger / hormone: PECAM-1

EndoNet ID: ENH00667

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • The cell adhesion and signaling molecule PECAM-1 has been shown to potently suppress apoptosis in a variety of cellular systems. [1]
  • In brain tissue from individuals with HIV encephalitis there is an accumulation of cleaved, soluble forms of the extracellular region of PECAM-1 (sPECAM-1). [2]
  • PECAM-1 binds tyrosine-phosphorylated beta-catenin and modulates beta-catenin localization and sequestration. [3]
  • sPECAM-1 may play a role in the pathophysiological events during early phase of ischaemic stroke. [4]
  • The proteolytic cleavage of PECAM-1 to its soluble 28-kDa form is dependent upon caspase activity. [5]
  • PECAM-1 plays a key role in the transendothelial migration of circulating leukocytes (diapedesis) during vascular inflammation. [6]
