Details for messenger / hormone: IL-19

EndoNet ID: ENH00701

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • IL-19 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma. [1]
  • IL-19 has a similarity of the amino acid identity of 21% in camparison to the IL-10. [2]
  • Due to their structural similarity, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24 and IL-26 were combined with IL-10 in the so-called IL-10 family. [3]
  • IL-19 plays some important roles in inflammatory responses because it up-regulates IL-6 and induces apoptosis. [4]
  • The interaction between IL-19 and the proinflammatory cytokines contributes to systemic inflammatory responses after cardiopulmonary bypass. [5]
  • IL-19 plays a role in the complex pathological cytokine network in psoriasis. [6]
  • It is known, that IL-19 does not bind or signal through the normal IL-10 receptor complex. But it is unknown through which one it signals. [2]
