Details for messenger / hormone: IL-20

EndoNet ID: ENH00702

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • IL-20 and its receptors were localized in in rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts. [1]
  • It is known that IL-20 is involved in the pathogenesis of arthritis. IL-20 induced rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts to secrete RASF migration endothelial cell proliferation monocyte chemoattractant protein1, IL-6 and IL-8 [1]
  • IL-20 even plays a role in epidermal function and psoriasis. [2]
  • IL-20 exerts its proliferative effects indirectly on keratinocytes via immune cells present in the skin. [3]
  • Due to their structural similarity, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24 and IL-26 were combined with IL-10 in the so-called IL-10 family. [4]
  • Iinterleukin 20 belongs to a family named IL-10 family. The members are IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24 and IL-26 [5]
