Details for receptor: TNFRSF25

EndoNet ID: ENR00701

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • Also exists in soluble form.
  • LARD (lymphocyte associated receptor of death) has a death domain and can initiate apoptosis. Alternative pre-mRNA splicing generates at least 11 isoforms of LARD, providing a range of functional outcomes that may help shape the immune response. [1]
  • Isoform 1, isoform 2, isoform 9, isoform 11: Cell membrane; single-pass type I membrane protein. Isoform 3, isoform 4, isoform 5, isoform 6, isoform 7, isoform 8, isoform 10, isoform 12: Secreted protein. [2]

Anatomical structures with this receptor

  • thymocyte

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of thymocyte apoptosis
      • TNFRSF25 might be involved in negative thymic selection. [1]
    • TNFRSF25 expression is restricted predominantly to lymphoid tissues, thymus. [1]
  • lymphocyte

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of lymphocyte apoptosis
      • The potential importance of TNFRSF25 in lymphocyte apoptosis is reflected by its restricted pattern of expression, predominantly on lymphocytes. [1]
    • TNFRSF25 is expressed in roughly equal amounts in B cells and CD4+ or CD8+ T cells, it is not expressed in macrophages. [1]
  • thymus

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of thymocyte apoptosis
      • TNFRS25 might be involved in negative thymic selection. [1]
    • TNFRSF25 expression is restricted predominantly to lymphoid tissues, thymus. [1]
  • colon

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of lymphocyte apoptosis
      • TNFRSF25 is up-regulated by alternative splicing in response to lymphocyte activation, this means that it is ideally placed to play a role in controlling lymphocyte proliferation. [1]
      • The restricted expression of TNFRSF25 suggests that like Fas receptor it may play a role in immune development and function. [1]
      • TNFRSF25 was detected in lymphocyte-rich tissues such as the thymus, colon, intestine, and spleen. [3]
    • Very low level expression was seen on the colon cancer cell line HT-29. [1]
    • A transcript of 3.2 kb was detected in lymphocyte-rich tissues such as the colon. [3]
  • spleen

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of lymphocyte apoptosis
      • TNFRSF25 is up-regulated by alternative splicing in response to lymphocyte activation, this means that it is ideally placed to play a role in controlling lymphocyte proliferation. [1]
      • The restricted expression of TNFRSF25 suggests that like Fas receptor it may play a role in immune development and function. [1]
    • TNFRSF25 expression is restricted predominantly to lymphoid tissues, spleen. [1]
  • prostate

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of apoptosis
      • TNFRSF25 is weakly expressed in the prostate. One biological role of TNFRSF25 may be to trigger a cell-death program upon binding of its cognate ligand. [4]
      • In addition, TNFRSF25 appears to be capable of activating the transcription factor NF-κB, suggesting that, like TNFR1, this receptor may regulate distinct signaling pathways in different cellular contexts. [4]
