Details for receptor: IL6ST

EndoNet ID: ENR00705

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • IL6ST
  • oncostatin M receptor
  • CD130 antigen
  • membrane glykoprotein 130
  • gp130
  • CDw130
  • IL-6R-beta
  • interleukin 6 signal transducer

General information

  • IL-11R alpha and gp130 are expressed in both luminal and glandular epithelium. [1]
  • Found in all the tissues and cell lines examined, expression not restricted to IL-6 responsive cells. [2]
  • Binds to IL6/IL6R (alpha chain) complex, resulting in the formation of high-affinity IL6 binding sites, and transduces the signal. Does not bind IL6. [2]
  • Signal-transducing molecule. The receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11, CTF1 and BSF3 can utilize gp130 for initiating signal transmission. [2]

Binding hormones

  • cardiotrophin 1
    • Binds to and activates the ILST/gp130 receptor. [2]
  • CLC
    • Heterodimeric CLF-1/CLC binds to CNTF R alpha, thereby activating signaling through gp130 and LIF R beta, the signaling subunits of the tripartite CNTF R complex. [3]
