Details for receptor: H2

EndoNet ID: ENR00749

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • gastric receptor I
  • H2R
  • H2
  • histamine receptor 2

General information

  • Studies with antagonists have demonstrated the importance of the H2 receptor in the regulation of gastric acid secretion, contraction of the heart, gastrointestinal motility, cell differentiation and cell proliferation. [1]
  • Activated intracellular signals: adenylate cyclase, cAMP, c-Fos, c-Jun, PKC, p70S6K. [2]
  • Expression in nerve cells, airway and vascular smooth muscles, hepatocytes, chondrocytes, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, dendritic cells, T and B cells. [2]
  • H2 receptor mRNA levels decrease with the progression of gastric atrophy induced by Helicobacter pylori infection, and are restored after H. pylori eradication. [3]

      • Because histamine represents a potent stimulant for gastric acid secretion, H2-receptor antagonists are widely used for the treatment of acid-related peptic disease. [4]
