Details for receptor: alpha 1A-adrenoreceptor

EndoNet ID: ENR00799

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • alpha1A-AR
  • alpha 1A-adrenoreceptor
  • alpha adrenergic receptor 1A
  • alpha1C adrenergic receptor (previous)

General information

  • This alpha-adrenergic receptor mediates its action by association with G proteins that activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Its effect is mediated by G(q) and G(11) proteins. [1]
  • Binding profiles of antagonists revealed that human prostate predominantly expressed alpha 1A-AR, whereas human aorta expressed alpha 1B-AR mainly. [2]
  • The cerebellar cortex expresses mRNA encoding all six alpha adrenergic receptor subtypes (1a, 1b, 1d, 2a, 2b, 2c), whereas dentate nucleus neurons express all subtype mRNAs, except alpha2a adrenergic receptor mRNA. [3]

      • regulation of inhibitory postsynaptic membrane potential
        • Alpha 1A ARs may play a role in the timing and receipt of the inhibitory signals from Purkinje cells. [3]

      Induced phenotypes

      • negative regulation of synaptic transmission, GABAergic
        • Basket cells express abundant alpha 1a AR mRNA. Parallel fibers excitation of basket cell dendrites produces off-beam GABAergic inhibition of Purkinje cells. [3]
