Details for receptor: beta-3 adrenoreceptor

EndoNet ID: ENR00807

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • beta3-AR
  • beta-3 adrenoreceptor
  • beta-3 adrenoceptor
  • beta-3 adrenergic receptor

General information

  • Beta(3)-adrenoceptor mRNA expressions were significantly higher in patients with heart failure than those in controls, and progressively elevated with aggravation of cardiac function. [1]
  • Beta-adrenergic receptors mediate the catecholamine-induced activation of adenylate cyclase through the action of G proteins. Beta-3 is involved in the regulation of lipolysis and thermogenesis. [2]
  • Adipocytes express beta-1, beta-2 and beta-3 adrenoreceptors. [3]

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of lipid catabolic process
      • Beta-3 adrenoreceptor is located mainly in adipose tissue and is involved in the regulation of lipolysis and thermogenesis. [4]
  • fat_cell

    Influences

    • positive insulin
      • b3-Adrenergic receptors (b3-ARs) are expressed predominantly on white and brown adipocytes, and acute treatment of mice with CL 316,243, a potent and highly selective b3-AR agonist, produces a 2-fold increase in energy expenditure, a 50–100-fold increase in insulin levels, and a 40–50% reduction in food intake. [5]
      • CL-mediated effects on insulin levels and food intake and only minimally restored effects on oxygen consumption, indicating that any effect on insulin secretion and food intake, and a full stimulation of oxygen consumption required the presence of b3-ARs in white adipocytes. [5]

    Influences

    • positive insulin
      • Human Beta3-AR produced an increased baseline and ligand-dependent insulin secretion. [6]
      • Cells express the Beta3-AR, and its activation contributes to the regulation of insulin secretion. [6]
