Details for receptor: EGFR isoform a

EndoNet ID: ENR00930

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

  • ErbB1
  • epidermal growth factor receptor isoform a
  • human EGF receptor isoform a
  • HER1

General information

  • Activation of ErbB receptors is important for the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Binding of specific ligand to one of the ErbB receptors triggers the formation of specific receptor homo- and heterodimers, with ErbB2 beeing the preferred signaling partner. [1]
  • Both an increase in intracellular calcium and activation of PKC lead to activation of an extracellular metalloproteinase that acts on the membrane bound precursors of EGF-receptor ligands including HB-EGF, amphiregulin and TGF-alpha. [2]
  • All EGFR ligands are made as membrane-anchored precursors that can be proteolytically released from cells. [3]
  • Receptor for EGF, but also for other members of the EGF family, as TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, betacellulin, heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor, GP30 and vaccinia virus growth factor. Is involved in the control of cell growth and differentiation. [4]
  • Hepatocytes display only a low level of the LDL-R and EGF-R, but cocultured with LSECs show a high level of LDL-R and EGF-R. [5]

    • EGF, HB-EGF, amphiregulin, betacellulin, TGF-alpha and epiregulin are immunoreactive EGFR ligands. [6]
  • amphiregulin
    • Similar to EGF, AR binds and signals through the EGF receptor (EGFR/Erbb1). [7]
  • TGF-alpha
  • betacellulin

Anatomical structures with this receptor

  • hepatocyte

    Influences

    • positive IL-1 alpha
      • Induced IL-1alpha release from hepatocyte is contingent on both TNF and autocrine TGF-alpha. [8]
    • positive IL-1 beta
      • Induced IL-1alpha release from hepatocyte is contingent on both TNF and autocrine TGF-alpha. [8]
  • neutrophil_granulocyte

    Influences

    • positive IL-8
      • EGF alone was able to prime CD11b expression and IL-8 production by PMN. [9]
  • epithelial_cell

  • epithelial_cell_with_microvilli

    Influences

    • positive mucin-2
      • PAFR transduces the signal to EGFR via ADAM10-dependent proteolysis of transmembrane HB-EGF. [6]
  • lipocyte_of_liver

    Induced phenotypes

    • positive regulation of cell proliferation and apotosis
      • In quiescent HSC, hydrophobic bile acids activate the EGFR, and this can couple to both cell proliferation and apoptosis, depending on the JNK signaling. Therefore, JNK act as a switch between bile acid-induced proliferation and apoptosis in HSC. [10]
  • G_cell

    Influences

    • positive gastrin
      • Activation of the canonical MAPK pathway by EGF stimulates gastrin gene expression via phosphorylation of Sp1. [2]
