Details for receptor: netrin receptor UNC5A

EndoNet ID: ENR01170

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • netrin receptor UNC5A
  • UNC5A
  • Unc-5 homolog A
  • Unc-5 homolog 1
  • UNC5H1

General information

  • UNC5H or DCC, when expressed in the absence of netrin-1, can induce cell death, whereas the presence of netrin-1 is sufficient for blocking this proapoptotic activity. [1]
  • NRAGE, a protein of the MAGE (melanoma antigen) family known to be a regulator of apoptosis, has been identified as a specific binding partner of UNC5H1. The interaction between NRAGE and UNC5H1 could activate the apoptotic pathway by promoting the degradation of the survival protein XIAP (X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis), or by activating the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway. [1]
  • DCC and the UNC5H proteins regulate apoptosis; positively in the absence of netrin-1, or negatively in the presence of netrin-1. This is designated as the 'dependence receptor' concept. [2]
